SRDF and NIC announce Summit in Sneakers
The Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF) and the National Insurance Corporation (NIC) have launched Summit in Sneakers, a corporate challenge that features a guided hike up the Gros Piton Nature Trail to mark National Sneaker Day 2026.
Set for Sunday, 28 June 2026, the hike brings together NIC’s national wellness platform and SRDF’s stewardship of the Gros Piton Nature Trail in a shared invitation to step outside, move together, and experience one of Saint Lucia’s most recognised natural landmarks on foot.
Speaking at the official launch of NIC’s National Sneaker Day on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, Mrs Lovely Saint-Aimé Joseph, SRDF’s Corporate Communications and Marketing Manager, said: “In today’s fast-paced work culture, opportunities for genuine team bonding outside of office spaces are increasingly important. Summit in Sneakers creates space for encouragement, resilience, laughter, challenge, and shared accomplishment in a way that few meeting rooms or workshops ever could.”
Summit in Sneakers will run as a structured team challenge. Corporate teams, organisations and institutions will take on the climb in teams of ten, with four checkpoints positioned along the trail. The team that amasses the most points across the four checkpoints will be named the Summit in Sneakers challenge winner.
The hike will operate on a pre-registration and timed-wave format designed to keep participants safe, protect the trail, and give every team a clear, well-paced journey from base to summit.
Participants can expect a branded summit finish frame, team photo points along the route, and certificates of participation. Warm-up sessions, safety briefings and guided wave departures are built into the morning.
The hike begins at 7:00 a.m. at the Gros Piton Nature Trail in Soufriere. Registration details will follow soon.
