The initiative, which concluded with its 12th cohort, brought together Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for intensive two-day sessions

The National Competitiveness and Productivity Council (NCPC) is reporting strong outcomes following the successful completion of its Enhancing Business Productivity (EBP) Training Programme, delivered in collaboration with the Caribbean Digital Transformation Project.

The initiative, which concluded with its 12th cohort, brought together Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for intensive two-day sessions aimed at improving business performance, operational efficiency, and competitiveness in an increasingly dynamic economic environment.

Director of the NCPC, Lisa Florent-Montoute, noted that the programme is part of a broader national effort to strengthen productivity through data-driven decision-making.

She underscored the importance of the Council’s ProTool platform, a web-based system designed to help businesses measure performance and identify areas for improvement, while contributing valuable data to inform national policy.

“We are encouraging participants to adopt the ProTool so that we can gather meaningful data at the macro level and provide evidence-based recommendations to improve productivity across Saint Lucia’s business sector,” she said.

The training was facilitated by Betty Combie of Moz Inc., who emphasized the importance of structured management approaches such as the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) model.

“If you want to manage effectively and efficiently, you must rely on data. Every step planning, checking, improving requires collecting and analyzing information to make informed decisions,” Combie explained.

Support for the initiative was provided by the Caribbean Digital Transformation Project, whose mandate includes advancing productivity, innovation, and digital adoption in Saint Lucia across the region. Training and Grants Officer, Brent St. Catherine, described the collaboration as highly successful.

“This programme aligned perfectly with our goals of helping businesses become more efficient, more digital, and more competitive. The feedback has been outstanding, and the tools introduced can be applied immediately,” he said.

Participants echoed these sentiments, highlighting the practical value of the training. Many noted that the sessions provided clear frameworks for assessing productivity, improving internal processes, and enhancing customer engagement.

The strong response from participants signals a growing readiness among Saint Lucian businesses to embrace innovation and adopt modern management practices.

The NCPC continues to encourage wider uptake of the ProTool platform as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen national competitiveness, improve productivit y, and support sustainable economic development.
